Just in time for the
July 15 release of Harry Potter and the
Half-Blood Prince in theaters, NECA
presents two new lines of figures based on the movie!
It's Harry Potter's
sixth year at Hogwarts, and aside from the
rising power of Voldemort, the mysterious
potion book that once belonged to the Half-Blood
Prince, the shady doings of Draco Malfoy,
private lessons from Dumbledore and the
occasional Death Eater, our hero has to deal
with having a crush on his best friend Ron Weasley's
sister, Ginny. It's a wonder he manages to keep
his grades up and still have time to be captain of the
quidditch team.
NECA is proud
to unveil these two new lines of Harry Potter
action figures, the first based on the new movie and
the next step in the life story of the wizard who
changed the face of magic forever. Available in 7" and
3 3/4" sizes, each having a figure exclusive to its
series, these are our best and most exciting Harry
Potter figures yet!
Harry Potter in
Cave Scene Outfit (7" & 3 3/4") - After he and
Dumbledore learn what it's going to take to defeat
Voldemort once and for all, they travel to a
seaside cave to find a Horcrux and wind up
doing battle with Inferi. Nothing's ever
simple. Figure includes a magic wand and display
stand.
Ginny Weasley in
School Outfit (7" & 3 3/4") - Ron's younger
sister, Harry's love interest and a pure-blood
witch to boot, Ginny has no shortage of roles
to play in Dumbledore's Army, which,
incidentally, she named. Figure includes a magic wand
and display stand.
Draco Malfoy in
School Outfit (7" & 3 3/4") - He may or may not be
a Death Eater, but Draco Malfoy, like
his father before him, is definitely up to no good.
Dumbledore had best tread lightly. Figure includes
a magic wand and display stand.
Mad-Eye Moody
(7" only) - Alastor Moody, nicknamed Mad-Eye
because, well, he's got a crazy eye patch, is a
veteran of the first wizarding war and a powerful ally
in the Order of the Phoenix. But just be
careful because that mad eye of his, like everything
else at Hogwarts, is magical. Figure includes
staff and display stand.
Lord Voldemort
(3 3/4" only) - In the world of Harry Potter,
Voldemort is the root of all evil, and more
than that, he's almost impossible to defeat. Will
Harry be up to the task? Maybe, but even the best
victories come at a heavy price. Figure includes wand
and display stand.

Posted by our friends at
MintInBox.net (who
were even kind enough to ask a few dozen questions from our message boards)
is a great interview video where Karl answers many questions
that collectors have been wondering about and reveals some
goodies about what we can see in 2009 and the new focus
to make more items based on collectors wants!
In December 2007, J.K. Rowling unveiled The Tales of Beedle the Bard,
a very special book of five fairy tales illustrated by the bard herself,
embellished with silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. Amazon was
fortunate to come into possession of one of the original copies, and it
was our privilege to share images and reviews of this incredible artifact.
Now J.K. Rowling is giving millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide
cause for celebration with a new edition of The Tales of Beedle the
Bard, available December 4, 2008.
Hollywood actor Robin Williams,
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and singer Elton John are among those
who handed over their footwear.
The 19 pairs of shoes will be
auctioned on eBay for Cancer Research, Cash for Kids, No More Landmines,
and Angus College Charitable Trust.
Bidding for the slippers,
trainers and high heels will close on 19 October.
They were collected by Angus
College staff, who last year created a three-mile line of pairs of shoes,
which they believe to be the longest ever recorded.
Below: Daniel Radcliffe wore
these shoes as Harry Potter and managed to persuade the wardrobe
department to let him wear them after filming had ended
Emma Watson has been touring
the campus of Harvard University.
The Harry Potter star - who
plays Hermione Granger in the wizard franchise - sparked rumours she is
set to enrol at the Massachusetts' establishment, after inspecting the
dormitories and the admission office.
Emma also paid a visit to the
English department, where eager fans reportedly had to be stopped from
approaching her. Harvard's Dean of Admissions refused to comment on
whether the 18-year-old actress is applying to the university.
Emma previously revealed she is
taking a break from movies, adding she is keen to further her education.
She said: "I've applied to a few universities for next year, including
several American ones. If I do go there I will do a liberal arts degree,
but if I stay in the UK I'll do English Literature."
The actress added she has
decided to go travelling following the postponement of the release date of
the next instalment in the film series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood
Prince.

The LA Times has
a new article up highlighting how upset fans are at
Warner
Brother's decision to push back the release of Half-Blood Prince
to July 17th, 2009. They spoke with WB president Alan Horn (pictured left)
about the matter, who tried to come up with more reasoning:
Warner currently is riding high with "The Dark Knight," the Batman film
that also stars Bale. The grim super-hero movie has taken in $452 million
in the U.S. since its July 18 release, making it the second-highest
grossing film ever.
To some degree, that success motivated Warner to shift "Half-Blood
Prince," Horn said. The film will now hit theaters the same midsummer
weekend that "Dark Knight" was released this year. Horn said the young,
core Potter audience would be out of school and give the film a longer
theatrical life. It will now open opposite Universal's special-effects
comedy "Land of the Lost," which stars Will Ferrell. But Horn said there
was nothing next year compared to this summer's especially dense slate of
big-budget releases.
The article wrapped up with this quote from Horn: "We would never do
anything to hurt one of the movies or the series. We love our fans."
Listen up, Muggles. The Harry Potter
movies are approaching a half dozen films and the plot has turned to
serious business. EA is taking their video game adaptations seriously,
too, and want these upcoming HP games to not only be fun, but really
convey the story that causes so many fans to knit their own scarves and
write horrible slash fiction. We got a chance to try out Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
for the Nintendo DS and see what's up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione's
sixth year (or as we like to call it, "The Make-out Year").

Potter Passes Star Wars and Bond!
Figures released by Warner Bros, the studio behind
the Harry Potter films, confirm that the series has become the
highest-grossing film franchise. The five Potter films released to date
have taken $4.47bn worldwide, more than the six Star Wars films and more
than the 22 Bond films. The Potter franchise still has one film on
release, the Order of the Phoenix, and two more set for release over the
next three years.
Since 1962, the Bond films have taken $4.44bn
worldwide, while the Star Wars films, dating from 1977, have taken
$4.23bn. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is estimated to have taken just
over $2.92bn worldwide. The figures produced by the studio do no take
inflation or ticket prices into account. "It's just a fun number," Warner
Bros president Alan Horn said. "It is not any way to diminish the box
office totals of Star Wars and the Bond movies." The glee may be
misplaced: Star Wars is still ahead of Potter in the US, grossing $2.18bn,
against Potter's $1.41bn.
It could be said this is the summer
of Potter. Gentle Giant does not disappoint by any means:
Nymphadora Tonks - Though previously seen - we did not know that her hair color
was to be purple. I am sure all fans of HP did a collective sigh of relief to
see Tonks with colored hair.
Voldemort statue - Well it is a statue per se - but the clothing/robes on him
are not all sculpted resin- but include fabric itself. . This is sure to be a
sell out!
Harry Potter statue -
appears to be in the same 1/4 Scale as Voldemorts complete with mixed media
format.
Bust-ups - Going full steam with this line, Gentle Giant previews Deatheaters
and more!
Harry on Threstral statue - On display and looking wonderful. This statue will
be another fan favorite.
